Projects and Commissions
The Ramphal Commission on Migration and Development is the first Commission established by the Centre for Commonwealth policy Studies.
The Centre works in close contact with the Commonwealth, seeing the Commonwealth as a crucial for the implementation of our findings, while prizing its independence.
The Centre seeks the active and continuing participation of all relevant Commonwealth agencies, including think-tanks, Universities and NGOs, as well as governments.
The Commission is composed of an elite selection of seven distinguished personalities from around the Commonwealth, under the leadership of the Honourable Mr. P.J. Patterson. It will advise Commonwealth governments on how they might adopt mutually beneficial and practical policies to maximise the benefits of international migration.
The Commission maintains a continuous dialogue with Commonwealth and international institutions and will examine in detail the issues surrounding international migration and the potential for development. The Centre is in the process of publishing a series of 3 interim reports before a final report is presented to Commonwealth leaders prior to their heads of Government meeting in Perth, Australia in November 2011.
